For the past two years I have participated in a backlist reading challenge, and I enjoyed it each time. It gave me a chance to discover new-to-me authors I had been meaning to read, and to knock some unread books off my To Be Read (TBR) list. I've decided to continue the challenge this year, with 25 books published prior to 2025 that I plan to read.
The first year I completed the challenge the books were selected at random. The second year I attempted all romance books (although a couple that were misleadingly marketed fell into the mix). This year I am hoping to read more thrillers so I will be dividing my list: 12 thrillers, 12 romance books by new-to-me authors, and the last will be a collection of non-fiction essays.
My 25 for 2025 will be:
- Happy Medium by Sarah Adler
- Delilah Green Doesn't Care by Ashley Herring Blake
- Next of Kin by Hannah Bonam-Young
- If You Give a Single Dad a Nanny by Ann Einerson
- The Irish Goodbye by Amy Ewing
- The Neighbor Favor by Kristina Forest
- The Ex Vows by Jessica Joyce
- Rules for Second Chances by Maggie North
- Pride and Protest by Nikki Payne
- The Seven Month Itch by Tanvier Peart
- Flawless by Elsie Silver
- Role Playing by Cathy Yardley
- Perfectly Nice Neighbors by Kia Abdullah
- The Lie Maker by Linwood Barclay
- Primal Fear by William Diehl
- First Lie Wins by Ashley Elston
- Beautiful Ugly by Alice Feeney
- Reckless Girls by Rachel Hawkins
- The Soulmate by Sally Hepworth
- She's Not Sorry by Mary Kubica
- Strange Sally Diamond by Liz Nugent
- The Last One at the Wedding by Jason Rekulak
- The Broken Girls by Simone St. James
- The New Couple in 5B by Lisa Unger
- Bad Feminist by Roxane Gay
- to read at least 125 books this year,
- to read at least one non-fiction book per month, and
- to begin reading the Immortals After Dark series by Kresley Cole (at least the first 12 books)
