This was my Book of the Month club pick for June.
The Ghostwriter is a multi POV, dual timeline thriller. Present day chapters are told from the POV of Olivia, a ghostwriter who has been blacklisted who reluctantly agrees to work on a project with her estranged father. But her father, Vincent, doesn’t want help writing a novel, he wants to write a memoir that reveals the truth about what happened 50 years ago when his siblings, Poppy and Danny were murdered. Past chapters are told from the POV of Vincent and Poppy, helping to round out the story.
I really enjoyed this one! I had a lot of theories as I read and was pleased that one of them was (mostly) correct. It was definitely a page turner that kept me interested!
Ghostwriter Olivia Dumont has spent her entire professional life hiding the fact that she is the only child of legendary horror author Vincent Taylor, famous not only for his novels but for being the prime suspect in the brutal slaying of his siblings. On the brink of financial ruin, Olivia reluctantly agrees to ghostwrite her father's last book, not realising she will be forced to reckon with the ghosts that live at the centre of her family.
