I skipped my Book of the Month club pick for April, but this was an add-on from September last year.
Wedding Dashers is a single POV romance filled with mistaken identity and travel mishaps. Ada is not in a good place: her business went under, she’s broke and living at home, and her boyfriend of 8 years asked for a break. The last thing she wants is to travel to her sister’s extravagant destination wedding to a groom she barely knows, so it’s just her luck when her flight gets cancelled, and she’s stranded. Luck seems to be picking up when she meets Hack, a handsome stranger who buys her a drink and listens to her vent. But soon the two realize they’re going to the same wedding- and Jack is the womanizing best man Ada has ranted about! A series of travel disasters lead to Ada and Jack traveling together, through England and Scotland, and finally to Ireland, hoping to make it to the wedding on time and not kill each other in the meantime!
This one hooked me from the beginning. It took a little while for me to warm up to Jack (I thought he was charming but also didn’t like him, and I cannot explain why), but I loved the hot mess that was Ada right away! As they started traveling together, I enjoyed their chemistry and banter, but it was the last few chapters that really had me rooting for them. Really glad I read this one and immediately added her next book to my TBR!
Surely she’s hit rock bottom?
So, there’s no reason for her not to spill her heart out about the over-the-top wedding, her sister’s worryingly quick engagement, and the womanizing best man she’s dreading meeting to a handsome also-stranded stranger at the bar. Until she realizes the stranger is headed to the same wedding. Oh, and he’s the infamous best man.
Now, Jack and Ada must put their simmering attraction behind them to make it to Belfast before they miss the nuptials. But between flat tires, missed trains, and suspect hostels, Jack and Ada start to question whether their feelings are worth going the distance, or just a distracting detour along the way.
