📖 I received a gifted e-book ARC. The following is my honest review✍🏻
You Won’t Forget Me is a single POV friends-to-lovers romance. Cubby is struggling to keep her band together after her on-again, off-again ex used their building popularity as a springboard for himself into a solo career with a song that is a brutal jab at their relationship. Their label puts together a tour and spins a love triangle story with Cubby and bandmate Harry, leaving Cubby reeling because she’d rather spend some time in peace, finding her must out of the limelight and dissecting her feelings for her best friend, Darcy. But Darcy wants to ignore their connection, and the show must go on, burnout be damned!
This was an intense and emotional read, and it put me through the wringer a bit! I don’t often gravitate towards new adult romances, and at times I wanted to shake these characters for behaving exactly like the early 20-somethings that they are, but it all came together in such an honest and beautiful way. I loved the depiction of depression, and that it showed a side of depression that isn’t always seen. While it can often be a complete shutting down, Cubby continuing to write and perform despite feeling overwhelmed and hollowed out is very true to what I’ve often experienced, and I was glad for that representation. I definitely loved this one all around!
Lost. Reckless. In love.
Cubby Clark is the heart of her band—loyal, earnest, and determined to make music that matters. But just as they’re about to break out, Connor, her on-again, off-again boyfriend walks away . . . and rockets to solo fame with a hit song tearing her down.
Left with a fractured band, a publicly adored and toxic ex, and relentless writer’s block, Cubby is barely holding it together.
The only thing keeping her steady are her friends and bandmates Darcy and Harry. Especially Darcy—bright, magnetic, and more guarded than she lets on. But, when a seemingly romantic photo of Cubby and Harry goes viral the same night Cubby and Darcy hook-up, the inseparable pair begin to fracture.
Thrust into a whirlwind tour, Cubby and Darcy are forced into close quarters. Now Cubby has one summer to decide what she’s willing to risk. Walking away would be easier. But staying might mean everything.
