Lost and Found is a dual POV friends-to-lovers romance. Bea is grieving the loss of her best friend, Merrit, and while she knew that Merrit had her eggs frozen, she's reeling a little from learning that they were willed to her. Now Bea is on an unconventional path to motherhood, and she finds support in the most unexpected person, Silas Byrd. Firefighter Silas is no stranger to grief and understands hardship better than most as he's recovering from severe burns. He's always had a thing for Bea, and when the opportunity arises to open his heart and home to her, he takes it, even if it means just being the best friend he can be. The two are navigating grief, pain, and love and finding their own way forward, with the hope that maybe it can be more one day.
I have read the Spunes books out of order, but I loved them all so much. This was a slow-burn romance, but so worth the wait. The buildup for love and friendship and different types of intimacy that can occur between two people who care for one another and are supportive during vulnerable times was so well done. Silas and his journey have been a side-storyline from book one, so getting to see more from his POV was great. And getting to know Bea and how big her heart is was so touching. I loved the two of them together!
Bea always wanted to be a mom, but she never expected she'd have to lose her best friend to do it. Armed with nothing but her best friend's eggs and a bucket list to complete, Bea's world is a sea of changes.
When Silas steps in to give her a place to live when she needs it, Bea is half-relieved she has a longtime friend in her corner. A firefighter living in the wake of an accident, Silas has his own challenges to work through that have left him cautious and vulnerable in equal measure. At first, they expect nothing. But as these two former sunshines knit together in a love that has been unfulfilled till now, a new beginning comes out of the ashes of the past. One that will lead to a love that can withstand all the slings and arrows, joys and triumphs, that life can throw.
